Rules adapted for ABSP

ABSP / CYO SPECIFIC RULES:

  1. Slide tackling is not allowed.
  2. Substitutions are allowed on all throw-ins and goal kicks. Coaches must not abuse this special rule by   using substitutions to delay the game.
  3. Teams including all coaches, players and fans are to stay on opposite sides of the field.
  4. No Head Balls for U-8 through U-12—see Below:
  • Whenever the soccer ball strikes a player's head, the referee must immediately stop play.
  • Players who head the ball will not automatically be removed from the field (as in the case of an injured player stoppage of play), unless the referee or the coach feels that the player has sustained an injury as a result of the head ball.
  • Any deliberate head ball during the game will result in an indirect free kick by the opposing team.
  • Inadvertent head balls (ball hits the player's head but it is not deliberately played by the player in question) will result in a drop ball at the spot on the field where the ball hit the player's head.
  • Any deliberate head ball in the Goal Box area by the defending team will result in an indirect free kick by the attacking team at the top of the Goal Box.
  • Any deliberate head ball in the Goal Box area by the attacking team will result in an indirect free kick by the defending team at the top of the Goal Box.
  • Any inadvertent head ball in the Goal Box area by either team will result in a drop ball at the top of the Goal Box area.

  • Boys Under-10 (8 v 8)       25 minute halves
  • Girls Under-10 (8 v 8)        25 minute halves
  • Boys Under-12 (8 v 8)       25 minute halves
  • Girls Under-12 (8 v 8)        25 minute halves
  • Boys Under-14 (11 v 11)    30 minute halves
  • Girls Under-14 (11 v 11)     30 minute halves
